Aruna Bhara:
If anything screams 'street style', it's doing a shoot while dodging tourists and weaving in between honking cars right outside of Toronto's famous Union Station. And, while these may seem like unnecessary things to put yourself through, these are the reasons why I love the city so dearly. The hustle and bustle is what makes life exciting and outfits that much more fun to show off.
When asked if I wanted to collaborate with Chris Smart and Rachael Bharara to shoot for her FW15 collection, of course I said yes. Rachael's dresses are beautiful - the white jacket is smart and structured while the Meraki olive wrap dress is beautifully draped. To me, the white dress looks tuxedo inspired with sharp angles which adds a definite edge to the design. Paired with nude heels and minimal jewelry, this piece is perfect to wear by itself or layered in the fall. The Meraki dress drapes absolutely beautifully and is an original take on the classic shirt dress. I would love to style this richly-coloured transitional piece in the fall with a pair of black leather boots and a black felt floppy hat.
I feel so lucky to have worked with Chris and Rachael on this shoot! To work with such talented and motivated people is inspiring and just adds to the list of reasons why being surrounded by successful people in Toronto influences me and my goals in such a big way. I hope to do more collaborations in the future, but for now I'm just counting down the days until I get to move back and start school again (*giant nerd*).
