Tartan

Tartan:

Plaid, tartan and checkers… I associate all of these prints with the holidays, as my house is always decorated with colourful christmas motifs and ribbons in red and green. This outfit is the epitome of Christmastime for me, with a cozy fisherman sweater and my favourite piece, tartan pants. The pants are from my mother’s infamous pant collection, where I can always be sure to find an array of j. Crew trousers in an assortment of textiles, colours and prints. Although I am quite a bit taller than my mom and these pants are probably supposed to be full length on someone petite, I think they look just as cool as capris. Throw a black fur collar into the mix, a Langdon Hall forest background and a sprinkling of snow, you have a perfectly casual Christmas outfit. Happy holiday season!

Black, Gray and Red all over

Black, Gray and Red all over:

First semester is complete! It feels like I just started and now I'm already halfway through my first year of university. Even though time has flown by, so much has changed and grown in my life in these past months! I miss the city already, but it's really nice to be comfortably nested at home. A big change is driving again (as opposed to only walking and transit for the past couple of months), and I've already driven down a one-way no-entry hill and cut a man off in traffic so you could say I'm just getting used to it again (although admittedly, I've never been the best of drivers and have ran my fair share of stop signs). This shaky driving is evident in the pictures above as my little brother photographer tried to take pictures on the way home, which actually turned out. My outfit is pretty basic with a knit turtleneck, black high waisted jeans and a felt hat but it's practically my uniform at school so I figured it was a must-blog.

The Old are Gold

The Old are Gold:

All I can say is "we made it"! High school was four of the best years of my life so far. I know everyone has a different experience but I can honestly say, although there were definitely hard, awkward, uncomfortable, embarrassing and unenjoyable times, I had such a great time. I met amazing new friends, learned a lot about who I am and what I care about and above all... graduated! Through all the high school drama that you're supposed to expect during those years, I still remain friends with the best friends I've had since grade one (Madi and Merkir, I'm talking about you!) and newer best friends who I met at Galt. Meg, for example, is a great example of bonding over snacks in grade nine science class can earn you a lifelong friend. Lots of close friends are not pictured but I enjoyed every minute I spent with them in the "chill zone", "g-spot" (embarrassed to even refer to those places as that) or athletic hallway. I met a great group of guys and girls who I hope to stay in touch with for a very long time (...parties back home at Christmas???). Although it's sad to say bye, I'm already started on a new and exciting 4 more years that I hope rival - if not top - the last. As cheesy as it sounds, thanks to everyone who made my high school experience so special... and as the cliché yearbook comment remarks, "don't every change Galt Ghosts"!

Until next time...

See ya later alligators!

WMCFW: Soia & Kyo

Continuing with our (still new) seasonal tradition, Shannon and I attended my our second show together and decided to see Soia & Kyo. The show was amazing and I loved the idea of the grass runway for the SS15 collection, and the designers carried out the everyday theme by having Gemma the Frenchie walk down the runway with the models (shown above taking a pose backstage)! Going backstage and getting street-style snapped were the highlights of the night. We'll see you next season, WMCFW!
